Located at a depth of 300 meters the cave was discovered in 2000 by two miners – Sanchez brothers, burivshimi new tunnel for Industrias Penoles. Selenite got its name for the beautiful yellowish silvery moon play on its surface (in ancient Greece called the Moon goddess Selene).
Selenite softness makes it a great stone for cutting.
