Android smartphone Microsoft Surface Duo with two screens will be released in September at a price of 1.4 thousand dollars

Microsoft first showed its first Android smartphone at the end of 2019, but only now announced the release date, exact characteristics and price – Surface Duo will go on sale on September 10 at a price of $ 1,400 (102.5 thousand rubles) excluding taxes. The device will not be officially sold in Russia

The smartphone is powered by last year’s flagship Snapdragon 855 processor and is equipped with two 5.6-inch OLED screens (1800 x 1350). The hinges provide 360-degree mobility – the halves can be folded with screens inward or outward and unfolded 180 degrees

In the “tablet” mode, a small distance is obtained between the screens – earlier Microsoft explained that the proprietary shell for Android, on which the smartphone runs, is adapted to use not one application stretched over two screens, but different windows on each half of the device.

Some applications (email client, for example) will receive a special adapted interface, which implies menus and controls on the left half, and the main content on the right. Electronic readers will open two pages at a time, like real books. Of course, this will require developer support.

Also, Surface Duo will be able to run “full” Windows 10 from the cloud using Windows Virtual Desktop .

The foldable smartphone supports inking with the Surface Pen, but the pen is not included.

Duo equipped with a single camera above the right screen. Sensor resolution – 11 MP, f / 2.0 aperture. Each of the halves contains a battery, the total battery capacity is 3577 mAh.

Previously, Surface Duo was already seen in the hands of a passenger on the subway – the video clearly shows how to fold and unfold a smartphone.
