Yandex has launched regular testing of unmanned vehicles in the city of Ann Arbor in the US state of Michigan.
Ann Arbor is a university city with a population of 120,000 and has become Yandex’s second test area outside of Russia, in addition to Tel Aviv in Israel.
The company clarified that in Michigan it is allowed to test drones without a person behind the wheel, and the traffic rules in the United States differ from those in Europe. For example, there you can find traffic lights with five light signals, and at unregulated intersections, in some cases, the car that arrived first has priority.
Michigan also allows the use of self-driving cars without steering wheel and pedal controls. The state allows the sale of drones to citizens after testing and certification.
