In Japan, they completed the construction of a national stadium for the 2020 Olympic Games. The project took 1.4 billion dollars, it will have to accommodate 60 thousand viewers. This was reported by the Japanese television channel NHK.

The five-story building was designed by Japanese architect Kengo Kuma. About 2 thousand cubic meters of cedar wood from 47 prefectures of Japan were used to decorate the stadium.

The building was created taking into account hot weather conditions. The architect claims that the stadium’s construction and unique air conditioning system will help maintain a comfortable temperature even in the 40-degree heat in Tokyo.

The arena is used to open and close the Olympic Games, as well as for athletics competitions. The start of the Olympics 2020 is scheduled for July 24, 2020.

Japanese authorities have chosen the Kango Kuma Stadium option after abandoning the concept of Zaha Hadid. In 2013, the architect’s bureau won an open competition for the construction of the stadium, which was supposed to accommodate 80 thousand spectators and cost $ 1.3 billion.

However, in 2014, the government reduced the budget and Hadid had to simplify the architecture. By 2015, the planned construction costs reached two billion dollars, and after the outrage of the athletes, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe canceled the project and decided to start from scratch.
