Kanye West gave two secret concerts for prisoners in the prisons of the American city of Houston (Texas). The rapper performed in front of the male and female departments of Harris County and Baker Street with a gospel choir as part of his music project Sunday Service (“Sunday Service”).
According to the Harris County Prison Administration, West representatives themselves proposed a concert. The institutions published excerpts from the speech on YouTube: the rapper talked to the prisoners and sang a couple of meters from them. There were no fences, but the musicians from the prisoners were fenced with lines.
In Texas, West emphasized that “he is on a mission, not just doing a show.” For the prisoners, the performance came as a surprise: the photos and videos from the concerts show that people were crying, raising their hands up and even kneeling. “You know, it was like a worship. Several of my colleagues cried when they saw all this, ” said Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
Social networks noted that with such actions Kanye West really brings something bright to people’s lives and “leads them to God.” And someone joked that soon a full-fledged religious sect would gather around the rapper.
