ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, has released its first smartphone. The Jianguo Pro 3 device went on sale under the Smartisan brand and is currently only available in China. This was reported by the Abacus News website.
The ByteDance smartphone comes preloaded with Douyin, the TikTok version for the Chinese market. The application can be accessed directly from the lock screen, but this integration of the service was limited.
According to the characteristics of Jianguo Pro 3 is comparable with the flagships of other Chinese companies. It runs on a Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, equipped with a 4000 mAh battery and four cameras, including a 48 MP main sensor, 13 MP ultra-wide angle, 8 MP telephoto lens and a 5 megapixel macro camera. The smartphone also received a selfie camera with a resolution of 20 MP and a fingerprint sensor under the screen.
The manufacturer of the device was Smartisan, part of the patents and employees of which ByteDance acquired in 2019. Work on the smartphone began even before the deal, so the degree of integration of the service was not high.
Jianguo Pro 3 went on sale in China at a price of 2,899 yuan (about $ 412). In ByteDance , they confirmed that they were not going to sell it in the United States.
The plans of the owner of TikTok to release their own smartphone became known in May 2019. Then it was said that the device will have a whole package of pre-installed applications from ByteDance, including a news aggregator, games and a future music service.
