California will be the first US state to ban the sale of new fur products

The ban will enter into force in 2023.

California Governor Gavin Newsome has signed laws banning animal cruelty. One of them provides a ban on the sale of new fur products.

Starting in 2023, it will not be possible to manufacture, sell, exchange, or donate animal fur products throughout the state. In addition, the state will completely exclude the involvement of wild animals, such as elephants and bears, in circus performances. Hunting for North American lynx also fell under the ban.

Earlier, bans on the sale of new fur products were introduced in Los Angeles and San Francisco.
