Subscribers to the two major Egyptian providers are having trouble accessing Facebook, Facebook Messenger and several news outlets, including the BBC. This was reported by the public organization NetBlocks.
NetBlocks claims that social networks and messaging platforms became unavailable to Telecom Egypt and Raya on Sunday, September 22, after the publication of videos alleging corruption in the state. The country has not previously blocked social networks.
On Saturday, September 21, the media reported that the Muslim Brotherhood party, a terrorist organization banned in Russia, plans to organize mass protests using social networks.
