Game of Thrones received an Emmy as the best drama series. Chernobyl recognized as the best mini-series of the year

The series became the favorites of the award, receiving 12 and 10 statuettes.

The final season of Game of Thrones won the United States Emmy Academy Award in the Best Drama Series nomination of the year. The broadcast of the 71st award ceremony was hosted by Fox.

“Game of Thrones” and “Chernobyl” became the favorites of the award: they received 12 and 10 statuettes. The script writer “Chernobyl” Craig Meisin, receiving the award, said that he devotes it to all victims of the Chernobyl disaster.

The best dramatic actor recognized Billy Porter (TV series “Pose”), Judy Komer won the award as the best actress (TV series “Kill Eve”). Peter Dinklage was awarded a statuette in the category “Best Drama Supporting Actor” for his role as Tyrion Lannister in Game of Thrones.

In 2019, Game of Thrones received a record number of nominations for an Emmy Award – 32. The series broke the record set 25 years ago. Chernobyl received 19 nominations. An Emmy is awarded by the Academy of Television Sciences and Arts for programs broadcast in the evening.
