NBCUniversal announces the launch of the Peacock streaming platform with Office and Parks and Recreation

The launch will take place later than Disney + and Apple TV +.

NBCUniversal (NBCU) spoke about plans to launch its own streaming service. As reported on the company’s website , the new product was called Peacock and it will begin work in April 2020.

The platform will accommodate more than 15 thousand hours of TV shows and movies NBCU. Peacock will receive exclusive rights to display “Parks and Recreation Areas” and “Office”. The latter will appear in the service only after 2021, when the deal with Netflix ends .

In addition, NBCUniversal announced the restart of the popular show “Star Cruiser:” Galaxy “”, “Saved by the Call”, the transmission of Punky Brewster and others. Also in the user library will appear cartoons DreamWorks Animation.

The exact launch date and cost of the service have not yet been disclosed. Earlier, NBCU reported that everyone who signed up for their cable TV package would get free access to it. It is also planned to launch a separate subscription, but, unlike Netflix, Apple TV + and other aggregators, the company will provide access mainly to films and shows of its own production.

The launch of Apple TV + is scheduled for November 1, 2019, and Disney + is scheduled for November 12. Also in the spring of 2020, the HBO Max service will begin to work.
