Roskomnadzor is preparing documents to block the mail services Mailbox.org and Scryptmail.com

The companies did not provide information for registration in the register of information dissemination organizers.

Roskomnadzor has begun preparing documents to block the mail services Mailbox.org and Scryptmail.com through the court. As the press secretary of the department Vadim Ampelonsky told RBC, the reason was the lack of documents for registration in the register of information dissemination organizers (ARI).

According to the publication, in the second quarter of 2019, at the request of the FSB, Roskomnadzor sent companies requirements to provide a list of documents for registration in the ARI registry. According to Russian law, developers are required to send all information within 15 days. At the time of writing the news, both services are not in the registry.

Ampelonsky indicated that Roskomnadzor is preparing an appeal to the court for failure to comply with the requirements of the department. He recalled that if the organizer of the dissemination of information fails to comply with legislative standards, resources are threatened with blocking (part 2 of article 15.4 of the Federal Law “On Information, Information Technologies, and Information Protection”).

RBC experts claim that the FSB might be interested in Mailbox.org and Scryptmail.com due to the possible sending of messages about false mining. In April 2019, Nevsky Novosti told about the evacuation of preschool institutions, the Hermitage and the Mariinsky Theater due to false reports of bombs. According to the publication, messages were sent from the mailbox [email protected]
