Sony has published a new report, from which it follows that in the quarter ending June 30, the company sold 3.2 million PlayStation 4. This means that the console definitely sold out in one hundred million copies – the previous report said that the console found 96.8 million owners.
Although sales of the console are slowing down a bit, the PlayStation 4 has made an important achievement. Console faster than others has reached one hundred million sales – in five years and seven months. Even the super popular in its time, the PlayStation 2 and the Nintendo Wii took more time.
Sony also reported that more than 50% of games are now buying in digital form – it seems that disk versions are gradually becoming a thing of the past.
Now Sony is working on a new generation of PlayStation. It is expected that the future console will receive an SSD-drive, 8K support and backward compatibility with games for the PlayStation 4. The console will premiere next year.
