The researchers argue that these bombs can be found in the Ministry of Defense personnel dedicated to the fighting in Syria.
The Russian Ministry of Defense showed cluster bombs, which may have been used in Syria, at an exhibition in Patriot Park. This writes the research group Conflict Intelligence Team after visiting the exhibition.
The bomb cassettes of the RBK-500 AO-2.5RT and the RBK-500 SHOAB-0.5 are located in the pavilion “Exposition of weapons and military equipment used in the conduct of military operations in the Syrian Arab Republic.” The Conflict Intelligence Team claims that the Russian army used these munitions in 2016: their photos and videos were published by the federal media and the Ministry of Defense accounts in social networks.
The Convention on Cluster Munitions was approved in Dublin in 2008. It was signed by 108 states, but a number of countries, including Russia, the United States and China, refused it. Despite this, the Ministry of Defense claimed that Russia does not use cluster munitions in Syria.
