Early in the morning Minsk time from the Kourou cosmodrome in French Guiana, the Vega light launch vehicle with the Falcon Eye 1 military satellite, which belonged to the United Arab Emirates, was launched. Two minutes after launch, a “serious accident occurred”: the trajectory of the rocket’s flight immediately after launching began to gradually shift.
As a result of the accident, the satellite was lost. Previously, its launch was postponed twice due to adverse weather conditions. The launch was broadcast live on YouTube.
Vega was developed by the joint efforts of the European and Italian space agencies. Since 2012, 14 successful launches have been carried out in succession, but the Arab military satellite had no luck. In November, the same model of the launch vehicle will have to put Falcon Eye 2 into orbit.
