American billionaire Jeffrey Epstein detained on suspicion of human trafficking

According to media reports, he is suspected of selling minors to sex slavery.

On July 6, American financier Jeffrey Epstein was detained at the airport in New Jersey. According to The New York Times, he was charged with trafficking in persons – the police suspect the billionaire of selling minors to sex slavery.

This is not the first time that Epstein is faced with such accusations. In 2008, he pleaded guilty to paying dozens of girls for “sexual massage,” which sometimes ended in sex. The investigation revealed that some girls were 14-15 years old. According to media reports, Epstein was detained amid a retrial.

Last time the billionaire made a deal with the investigation, spent about 13 months in prison and paid compensation to the victims. The case then caused a public outcry and discontent with a soft sentence. Prior to the trial, Epstein was friends with Donald Trump, former US President Bill Clinton and British Prince Andrew.
