The artist told The Verge that he created the work in May 2019. Xiaomi removed the ramps and balls from it, replacing them with images of their devices.

The Chinese company copied the green chair and the yellow lamp from other works of Tarki, which he did to advertise rival Xiaomi – Korean corporation LG.

Tarka noted that Xiaomi representatives did not contact him and did not offer to conclude an agreement. “I am one hundred percent sure that they used my work, because everything fits perfectly. They changed colors and removed several elements so that [theft] did not look so obvious, ”he noted. Xiaomi did not comment.

The Chinese company has repeatedly been accused of plagiarism. In early February 2019, Xiaomi copied dynamic wallpapers from macOS Mojave to their Mi 9 smartphones.
