In the destroyed Cathedral of Notre Dame there was the first Mass. Since it is dangerous to be in a burnt building, all participants in the service put on protective helmets. This was reported by Reuters.

According to the agency, the mass passes in a small chapel of the cathedral, which was not affected by fire. The archbishop of Paris Michel Opet, the prior of Notre-Dame Patrick Chauvet, several priests and parishioners took part in the service dedicated to the consecration of the altar. No one was allowed for security reasons.

On April 15, one of the main sights of France – Notre Dame de Paris – burned partially . The cathedral was put out after a few hours, but the roof, the spire and the clock of the building collapsed completely.

On April 17, the French Prime Minister announced an international competition of architects for the restoration of Notre Dame. On May 11, the Paris Architectural Bureau Vincent Callebaut Architectures presented a project for the restoration of a destroyed church called Palingenesis.
