The court fined the second trapping company of killer whales and beluga whale held in a “whale prison” by 56 million rubles

The Frunze Court of Vladivostok fined 56 million rubles for violating the fishing rules of the company Oceanarium DV, a trap killer whale and beluga whale held in a whale prison. This was reported by Tass.

The court found that the company caught three killer whales at an illegal place of catch, in violation of procedures and inconsistency of technical means and type of vessels. On June 7, in a similar case, the court fined the White Whale company with 28 million rubles.

From summer to autumn 2018, private companies caught 11 killer whales and 90 belugas and placed them at the base for adaptation. On November 16, 2018, the Primorsky Krai SC initiated a criminal case under the article on the illegal harvest of aquatic biological resources. February 22, 2019, Putin ordered the Ministry of Natural Resources to solve the problem of whales before March 1.

In support of the animals expressed Pamela Anderson, son of Jacques-Yves Cousteau and Leonardo DiCaprio. On April 8, the head of Primorye promised to release all animals from the “whale prison” into the natural environment.
