“Kommersant”: the first commercial smartphone and tablet will appear in Russia on the domestic Astra Linux operating system

The start of sales is scheduled for September.

In September 2019, tablets and the first commercial smartphone on the domestic Astra Linux operating system will go on sale. This was reported to Kommersant by the device manufacturer Mobile Inform Group and the Astra Linux group of companies.

The manufacturer said that the gadgets will have a “large price range” and they will cost “like good Android phones”. The company plans to sell tens of thousands of such devices. The operating system is certified by the Ministry of Defense, FSTEC and the FSB.

These are industrial-grade devices designed for “intensive use in harsh environments.” The diagonal of the smartphone – 5.5 inches, tablets – 8 and 10 inches. Devices will receive 4 gigabytes of RAM and 64 gigabytes of permanent memory. The time of their work will be from 10 to 12 hours at a temperature of -20 ° C to + 60 ° C and from four to five hours at a temperature of up to -30 ° C.

Customers of the devices can be government agencies, law enforcement agencies and state-owned enterprises. “First, we estimate the consumer response and, on this basis, we will determine the segments into which we will go,” said the manufacturer.
