But which one is unknown.
Yandex and the Federal Security Service (FSB) found a solution regarding the transfer of encryption keys to the data of users of the company’s services. About this RBC told the managing director of “Yandex” Tigran Khudaverdian.
According to Khudaverdyan, the problem is “really there,” but the managing director of Yandex refused to specify the details of the solution.
The situation is very simple: there is the “law of spring,” and all must fulfill it. Our task is to ensure that compliance with the law does not conflict with the privacy of user data.Tigran KhudaverdyanManaging Director of Yandex
On June 4, it became known that several months ago the FSB demanded that Yandex encrypt the encryption keys of the Yandex.Mail and Yandex.Disk users according to the Bloggers Act and the Spring Law. But initially the company refused to transfer them. Because of this, Yandex was threatened with blocking services, since Telegram was blocked for a similar refusal in 2018.
Yandex stated that the law, by which the FSB requests keys to decrypt messages, does not specify the requirement to provide keys to decrypt all traffic.
On 6 June, the head of Roskomnadzor, Alexander Zharov, in an interview with TASS, said that Yandex and the FSB “had found an acceptable solution” regarding the transfer of keys.
