SpaceХ has put into orbit the first 60 satellites for the global Internet system Starlink

The total weight of the cargo was 18.5 tons – a record for the company’s missiles.

SpaceX launched the Falcon 9 launch vehicle, which launched 60 satellites into orbit as part of the Starlink global Internet program. About this SpaceX reported in his twitter.

The rocket will bring satellites to an altitude of 440 kilometers, but they will work at an altitude of 550 kilometers. They will reach orbits with engines. Each satellite weighs 227 kilograms, their total weight is 13.6 tons. The total weight of the rocket cargo was 18.5 tons.

The launch of the rocket occurred from the launch site at Cape Canaveral on May 24 at 05:30 Moscow time. SpaceХ planned to launch Falcon 9 on May 17, but postponed the start twice: first because of bad weather, then because of the need to double-check the equipment systems.

SpaceX has begun work on the Starlink project since the end of 2014. The program should provide the entire planet with Internet using a network of orbiting satellites. In total, 12,000 devices weighing from 100 to 500 kilograms are planned to be delivered to orbit by 2024. In February, the company sent test satellites into orbit.
