The bosses of Disney have chosen not the best time to uncover a little secret: David Benioff and D. B. Weiss are re-classified as screenwriters for the next Star Wars movie from the playbook of the Game of Thrones. That will be removed after the “Ascension of Skywalker”, scheduled for December 2019. After it, the franchise will go on a three-year break, which in 2022 will be followed by a film from two from Westeros.
This was announced by the head of Disney Bob Iger. He believes that the break of the universe is necessary after a trilogy and two spin-offs. This time will allow not only to relax, but also to really charge up and prepare for a new trilogy on Star Wars, which will be released from 2022 to 2026.
Iger did not say whether Benioff and Wise would write the entire trilogy, or whether they were given only the first film.
