Glonass wants to store data about cars in Russia

The management of Glonass JSC suggested that the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, Yury Borisov, personally store data on cars and their owners.

The operator is confident that “the incorrect handling of this information may threaten the security of the country.” Glonass wants to store routes, driver actions and information from sensors in Russia and duplicate them into the state-owned ERA-Glonass system dealing with emergency calls in case of accidents.

“Sensitive” data is proposed to be transferred only through a protected state environment. But that concerns them – did not specify.

Now the information about the speed, the location of the car and the impact force during an accident is transmitted to ERA-Glonass. [ Gazette ]
