Following Google, the company executed the decision of the Supreme Court of India.

Apple removed TikTok from the Indian App Store by a decision of the Indian Supreme Court shortly after Google fulfilled the requirement and also removed the application from the Indian Play Store. The court ruled that through TikTok, pornography and other illegal content is distributed throughout the country.

According to analyst firm Sensor Tower, TikTok in India downloaded over 230 million times. A spokesperson for Bytedance, which owns TikTok, told The Verge that the company “believes in the Indian judicial system,” adding that they “are counting on an outcome that is positively perceived by more than 120 million active users of the application in India.” Bytedance is going to appeal the court decision.

Quartz said that the application’s injunction in India will not affect users who have already downloaded TikTok from the App Store – they will be able to continue using it.

On February 27, US authorities fined TikTok, a company owned by ByteDance, for $ 5.7 million and demanded that users under 13 years of age be removed because of a violation of the law protecting children’s privacy on the Internet.

In February, the Minister of Information Technology of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu M. Manikandan (M. Manikandan) proposed to ban TikTok in the territory of the state because of the distribution of sexual content materials in the application. On April 3, the Indian Supreme Court requested Apple and Google to remove the application from the App Store and Play Store.
