North Korea announced the testing of a new weapon that can carry a “powerful warhead”

Kim Jong-un called the test “an event of very weighty value.”

North Korea under the leadership of the country’s leader Kim Jong-un tested a new tactical guided weapon. This is reported by Yonhap with reference to KCNA – the official agency of the DPRK.

The agency did not specify what weapons they experienced. The Financial Times reported that, according to Pyongyang, a new weapon was designed to carry a “powerful warhead.”

In a statement from KCNA, it is reported that the head of state, Kim Jong-un, who personally led the test, called the new development “an event of very weighty significance.” He also noted the role of scientists and workers in the field of national defense, who have done “another great job to increase the country’s defense capability.”

According to Interfax, the DPRK media earlier reported that Kim Jong-un visited the Air Force unit and watched the flight exercises in his first public inspection of military activities for five months.

In April 2017, North Korea for the first time showed its ballistic missiles at a parade in honor of the anniversary of the country’s founder, Kim Il Sung. They demonstrated intercontinental weapons and ballistic missiles for submarines.

On April 21, 2018, Kim Jong-un announced the suspension of nuclear weapons tests and intercontinental ballistic missiles, as well as the closure of the nuclear testing site. He said that the country no longer needs such tests, since “it has reached the goal of developing nuclear weapons.” Trump said that this is a big progress and very good news for the whole world.
