11 Android tips that iPhone owners envy

Mobile operating systems iOS and Android long ago headed for rapprochement. Most options and features are repeated and overlap, and the chips migrate from one OS to another.

However, there are some cool ideas and possibilities in the Android world that iPhone users really lack. We have long wanted to see these chips in your favorite smartphone:

1. Functional dialer

Any smartphone in the first place – a telephone. Although the number of voice calls is steadily declining, yielding to calls and correspondence in instant messengers, this does not eliminate the need to develop the Phone application.

Most striking is the inability to remove an incoming call without rejecting it. Especially persistent interlocutors can distract for a few minutes from working at a smartphone or favorite game.

This is despite the fact that during the heyday of jailbreaking, several cool and convenient solutions to this problem were invented: from the banal ability to hide a call with a swipe to a convenient banner with the name of the caller and the buttons to control the call.

In addition, the standard dialer does not know how to quickly search for contacts by pressing the number keys. Yes, it was still in the old Nokia button phones.

Instead, the Cupertine students propose to go to another section of the program, click on the search window and enter characters from a smaller keyboard with two hands.

Do not forget about the problems with the photo of the caller. That set image is overwritten by a contact photo from the cloud, it does not stretch to full screen, or in general it draws a picture from a long-distance profile in the closed social network Google+ (when synchronizing contacts with Gmail).

Personally, I still have a photo installed on the old Samsung smartphone with Android, the second version for all frequently used contacts, and it just worked, and with the transition to the iPhone, I scored on this chip, because it works crookedly.

Add to this the eternal problem with the inability to record conversations without crutches and third-party pieces. It’s time for Apple to make a compromise, because calls are now recorded from the box even on push-button calls from AliExpress for the desk of thousands of rubles.

What Apple needs to do: you do not need to spend precious company money on developing a new dialer, just allow it to be replaced with programs from the App Store. Developers will instantly occupy a new niche and bring income to Cupertino as a percentage of the sale of paid solutions.

2. Icons on any place on the desktop

A clear ordering of icons could be one of the requirements of Jobs and could be put up with him in times of 3.5-inch displays. In today’s reality, only occasional users can comfortably use the iPhone with one hand.

The rest have to constantly intercept the device or use the other hand. At the same time the chip Convenient access looks like a pitiful handout from Cupertino.

We have long been accustomed to transfer to the upper part of the display less needed icons, lowering the most important and useful below. For ease of use, some applications have installed widgets or Siri commands.

It would be much easier to allow icons to be placed anywhere on the iPhone desktop.

What Apple needs to do: you do n’t need any battery-consuming widgets, a large weather clock, or batteries for a third of the display from the Android world. We just want the opportunity to arrange the icons as it will be convenient for everyone.

3. Normal access to files and folders

This is not a whim of jailbreak fans or recent Android users. This is a real problem that the focus is not noticed at Apple.

At the presentation of the new iPad Pro at the end of 2018, Cook and the company decided on the long-awaited transition from Lightning connectors to the universal Type-C . Professional tablets were able to directly connect flash drives, drives, and even docks with peripherals.

That’s just the use of this is not very much.

The file system is still closed; you can only import photos or videos in a suitable format from a connected flash drive.

Some third-party developers have begun to refine applications to have access with connected drives for data transfer, but Apple’s limitations do not allow to make something simple and convenient.

The problem will become more urgent when the Type-C connector appears in the iPhone .

Look at any Android-smartphone: connect a USB flash drive and copy what you want – wherever you want (well, almost).

What Apple needs to do: look at popular file managers from the App Store and finally refine the useless Files application so that it is a common buffer for working with data on a smartphone, in the cloud or when connecting removable drives.

4. Dark theme

From a simple Wishlist for lovers to customize an interface, a dark theme can turn into a good multifunctional solution.

Already, the large, often current iPhone model range is equipped with OLED-matrices, for which the display of black color is less energy-consuming . Black on these screens looks really black and does not discharge the battery in the same way as blue, white or green does.

The dark theme of the interface will provide an opportunity to save power and extend the battery life of the iPhone. The screen at the same time will be less prone to fading.

Such design is preferable to work in the dark or in low light. Even the minimum brightness of the display is sometimes a lot, and black elements of the interface can reduce eye strain.

Even third-party developers, one after another, add stylish black themes to iPhone applications.

At the same time, the dark design last year was even delivered to macOS, and in iOS there is a smart color inversion, which is 90% satisfied with users.

What Apple needs to do: finish the smart-inversion and transfer it from the category of special features to the iOS 13 chip.

Small chips and system settings

It takes only 5 minutes to twist in the hands of any Android-smartphone to find about a dozen small but useful chips that would make using the iPhone much more convenient.

5. Display the entered contact information on the lock screen. So you can leave a message to the finder of the lost gadget even without activating the mode of loss and additional actions.

6. Multiband volume control. To silence notifications, set the ringtone to an average volume level and unscrew the sound from the player to maximum.

7. Smart display off. The chip will not block or dim the screen while the user is reading or viewing the photo.

8. Time to full charge. Banal chip that adds informativity to the gadget.

9. Change resolution. For convenient scaling of elements on the display or to save battery power.

10. Shortcuts for the application on the lock screen. Access to your favorite messenger or third-party camera from the App Store would be useful to many.

11. Volume control indicator. How much can you hint Cook, that the current schedule is long outdated, tired and acts on our nerves.

WWDC 2019 is not far off, we hope for the appearance of at least some of these necessary tips in iOS 13 .
