In 1989, director Georgy Danelia died in Moscow. About this “New Gazette” told thefamily of Danelia. This was confirmed by the agency “Moscow” with reference to the spouse of director Galina.

On February 23, Danelia was hospitalized with pneumonia, his wife told Tass. The next day he was put in an artificial coma.

Danelia was born on August 25, 1930 in Tbilisi, in 1959 he graduated from the Higher Directing Courses at Mosfilm. He then began working at a film studio as a production director.

He is known for such films as “I walk across Moscow” (1963), “Afonya” (1975), “Mimino” (1977), “Autumn Marathon” (1979) and “Kin-dza-dza” (1986). Danelia also won the Nika and Kinotavr Awards, and received the Golden Eagle Award. He has the Order for Services to the Fatherland, II and III degrees, as well as the Badge of Honor.
