In Sardinia, 22 kg of plastic was found in the body of a dead whale female.

At the time of death, the female was pregnant.

Not far from the resort of Porto Cervo in Sardinia, a dead female whale was found – an unborn baby and 22 kilograms of plastic trash were found in her stomach. This was announced on his Facebook page by the Minister of the Environment and the Protection of the Land and Sea of ​​Italy, Sergio Costa.

In the digestive system of the deceased animal , garbage bags, fishing nets, pipes and a washing machine with preserved barcode were found.

Costa recalled that plastic trash affects the environment around the world. At the beginning of the year, a dead whale was found in the Philippines with 40 kilograms of plastic bags in the stomach.

We have used convenient disposable packaging all these years – and today we are paying the price.

The minister mentioned the law banning disposable plastic tableware approved by the European Parliament – and promised his subscribers that Italy would be one of the first countries to start observing it.
