In June 2019, Volvo Car Russia will launch a long-term car rental subscription service in Russia for a fixed term of one year. A person from 25 years old who lives only in Moscow will be able to fill out an application; driving experience will not be taken into account. This was told “Vedomosti”.

Volvo reported that 50 Volvo XC60 cars will be provided for the new service. The subscription price will be 59,500 rubles per month, for the cancellation of the rent penalties are provided. The client will not have to pay transport tax and maintenance, buy a hull insurance and CTP, said a source close to Volvo. Vedomosti notes that there was no such decision on the Russian car market before.

VTB Capital analyst Vladimir Bespalov said that the service is likely to become a niche – this kind of rental interests premium segment customers who are used to changing cars frequently. “For an economy segment, car sharing is more profitable,” Bespalov added.

In a study of consulting company Arthur D. Little, it was noted that having a car of your own remains important for Russians. This was called one of the deterrent factors for the development of car sharing.
