In Venezuela, 79 people were killed due to power outages. Authorities complain to the UN on cyber attack

The government connects with the incident the US government.

Venezuelan authorities believe the cause of large-scale power outages, because of which no residents left 21 of the 23 states, cyber attack on the country’s power system. This was announced by Vice-President for Communications and Culture, Minister of Communications and Information Jorge Rodriguez.

According to him, by now the authorities have restored the work of electricity in the south and east of the country. Rodriguez hinted at the connection between the failures and the actions of the US authorities, leading to the proof of the tweets by US Senator Marco Rubio, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, National Security Advisor John Bolton, and the Venezuelan opposition.

Rodriguez promised that Venezuela would complain about cyber attack to UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet. A delegation of the United Nations is expected to visit the country “in a few days.”

Member of the National Assembly, José Manuel Olivares, said that from November 2018 to February 2019, 79 people in Venezuela died because of power outages. The parliamentarian referred to the latest national survey of hospitals and data about their patients.

A massive power outage in Venezuela has affected the work of airports, subways and the Internet. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro blamed “American imperialism.” The White House has rejected its connection with the incident. Electricity outages have been going on in Venezuela for several years now.
