The image was soon removed from the site of the Orthodox center. City Hall denied the appearance of a monument to Christ in the region.
The Spiritual Orthodox Center “Vyatsky Posad” published a draft of a 68-meter statue of Jesus Christ in Vladivostok. The images were attached to the report on the trip of the governor of Primorye Oleg Kozhemyako, the head of the center Gennady Tsurkov and the vice-president of AFK Sistema Ali Uzdenov to the place of future construction.
Later the publication was removed from the site of the center. There is no travel information on the governor’s website. The press service of the mayor’s office of Vladivostok told FederalPress that the project was not discussed with them.
According to the authors, the monument “will become a spiritual symbol of the rallying of the Russian people.” Next to the statue they plan to build the temple of St. Sergius of Radonezh.
The statue of Jesus Christ will illuminate, with a sign of the cross, all ships arriving in Russia and ships departing from it, blessing them for long hikes.
The initiative to establish a statue of Jesus Christ in Vladivostok appeared in 2015. Then they talked about 80 meters. The height of the world’s largest statue of Jesus Christ in Poland is 52 meters. On April 22, 2018 antennas and transmitters were installed in her crown to distribute the Internet.
