Huawei showed a flexible screen smartphone on billboards in Catalonia an hour before the MWC presentation

Mate X is similar in design to the Samsung Galaxy Fold, but it has one big bendable display, not two.

Journalists who came to the Mobile World Congress 2019 exhibition in Barcelona noticed that the Chinese company Huawei hung advertising banners with the announcement of a Huawei Mate X flexible screen smartphone an hour before its premiere at the conference.

According to the ad banner, Mate X will support the new generation of 5G networks. Judging by the design, a smartphone with a flexible display will be expanded from a smartphone to a tablet, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Fold. But unlike the Galaxy Fold, the Mate X does not have two screens of different sizes, but one big one.

Also online appeared live photos of a folding smartphone with a closed presentation. Journalists report that the phone is equipped with a dual battery with a capacity of 4500 mAh, a Kirin 980 processor and 10 gigabytes of RAM. The diagonal of the flexible display is 8 inches in the unfolded state with a screen resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels. Folded – 6.6 inches on one side and 6.38 inches on the other. This is almost 2 inches more than the Samsung Galaxy Fold, which has a 4.6-inch display in the folded state.

Huawei Mate X will cost 2300 euros (170 thousand rubles) – 300 euros more expensive than the Galaxy Fold. The company reports that it plans to sell 200 thousand of these smartphones in 2019. The exact date of release of new smartphones Huawei is still unknown, but the company said that sales will begin in mid-2019.
