On the lunar probe “Chang’e-4” sprouted cotton sprouts. This is the first such case in history.

In the apparatus are the seeds of other plants, but they have not yet ascended.

The Chinese lunar probe, Chang’e-4, conducted a biological experiment on the moon and sent pictures of tiny cotton shoots. Mankind for the first time managed to grow a plant on any celestial body besides the Earth. This was reported by Xinhua.

For the experiments, six biological species were placed on the probe , including cotton, rapeseed, potatoes, Tal’s rezuhofidka, yeast, and Drosophila fly larvae. They are in the same container and, according to the idea of scientists, should form a closed ecosystem

Chang’e-4 was launched on December 8th. The main objective of the probe, consisting of an automatic landing module and a lunar rover, is to study the reverse side of the moon. The probe will examine the environment, the surface and the ground. In addition, he will conduct a series of low-frequency radio astronomy observations.
