Canadian air traffic controllers ordered hundreds of pizzas to colleagues from the USA – they haven’t been paid for almost a month

The reason – the suspension of the US government, which has already become the longest in history.

From December 22, 2018, the government’s “shatdown” continues in the United States , leaving hundreds of thousands of civil servants without wages. This also affected the American air traffic controllers, who still have to go on shifts in order not to disrupt the work of airports. In a sign of solidarity, colleagues from Canada ordered hundreds of pizzas for them.

Dispatchers from some cities of Canada and the United States work closely with each other, so the idea of a support action appeared. The first pizza ordered employees of Edmonton Airport – they sent food to the city of Anchorage (Alaska). The idea was supported by the president of the Canadian Air Traffic Management Association, and other units also began to order pizza.

According to CNN, for several days, dispatchers from 49 US airports received food. The total number of pizzas ordered has already exceeded 350 boxes. Grateful employees of airports in the United States began to send photos with thanks.
