Iran criminalizes Telegram cryptocurrency

After blocking the Telegram messenger in the country, the Iranian authorities took a new step – any help to launch the internal cryptocurrency of the messenger, Gram, was outlawed. It is reported Tehran Times, referring to the words of one of the officials Javad Javidnia (Javad Javidnia). He explained that the ban is due to economic, not political reasons.

Iran has always ambiguously related to cryptocurrency and many social networks. In December 2017, the authorities temporarily blocked access to Telegram and Instagram after mass protests. In April 2018, Iran’s supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei banned all government officials from using Telegram, followed by a similar ban for the entire country and its ” import substitution .”
