Reichenbach Falls is known in world culture for several remarkable facts. For example, here in the nearby town of Meiringen invented the famous meringue dessert. However, the fame and recognition of the tourist attraction of this place brought him the mention in the story of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.

In The Last Holmes Affair, the writer pushed a famous detective in a fight with Professor Moriarty at the edge of a mountain trail that passes by a waterfall. Subsequently, Dr. Watson found here only Alpenstock and cigarette case. Both heroes, as was long thought, died at the bottom of the gorge.

Strictly speaking, Reichenbach is a cascade of three waterfalls. The literature describes and revere fans of Sherlock’s topmost of them. There is an observation deck near it, and the trail leads to Meiringen, where the Holmes Museum is located . A funicular raises to the tourist site, but the most convinced of them are walking the path along the path.

Several memorial tablets have been installed in the city and at the waterfall, the Reichenbach Journal is published and thematic meetings are organized by the Reichenbach Irregular Detachment. Shops, hotels, bars and even the square here are named after the English writer and his famous hero. Tourists love to visit this place and make hundreds of photos on the background of attractions.
