According to insider Evan Blass, a Chinese brand is working on a competitor of Samsung’s foldable phone.
Renowned technology insider Evan Blass published a video of a folding device, which is transformed from a smartphone into a tablet and back with a flexible screen. Blass stressed that he could not verify the authenticity of the video, but, according to him, it could be a new phone from Xiaomi.
As in the case of the folding device from Samsung, dim lighting does not allow to fully see the smartphone. The main difference: the alleged phone from Xiaomi should not be folded in half, but in three parts. At the same time, it is not clear whether the “rear” display will work in this position. As demonstrations of the concept concept, maps were chosen – they quickly adapt to the size of the display depending on user actions.
Can’t speak to the authenticity of this video or device, but it’s allegedly made by Xiaomi, I’m told. Hot new phone, or gadget porn deepfake? pic.twitter.com/qwFogWiE2F

TechRadar journalists noted that if the device is real, then it is significantly ahead of the competitors in the market of “folding phones”. In November 2018, Samsung introduced a prototype smartphone with Infinity Flex technology: journalists noted its innovativeness, but criticized the thick framework and noted that the device could “throw the industry back a step.”
In July 2018, ET News sources reported that Xiaomi is developing its first “flip” phone and plans to release it in 2019.
