Chinese space probe, which is a part of the lander and rover, made a landing on the lunar farside. Chang’e-4 was the first spacecraft to make a soft landing on the back side of the Earth satellite.

“Moonlight” was held at 10:26 pm Beijing time on January 3 (5:26 Moscow time). The probe was launched on December 8 from the Sichan space center, reached the Moon on December 12, and on December 30 it entered the calculated orbit. 26 days after the start of the mission, the apparatus sat down in the Aitken crater in the South Pole area. Preliminary press conferences, the Chinese side did not hold.

Since the line-of-sight of the moon-rover is inaccessible, the Queqiao relay satellite is used to communicate with it. The task of Chang’e-4 is to study the reverse side of the moon, including the mineral composition and surface structure, as well as low-frequency radio astronomy observation.

In a special container on board the moonwalker are potato seeds, silkworm eggs and the plant Rezuhovidka Tal. Scientists plan to check whether under such conditions there exists a closed ecosystem in which the larvae will release carbon dioxide and the plants convert it into oxygen.
