The Russian figure skating championship ended in Saransk: 14-year-old Anna Shcherbakova won the women’s singles tournament. The second place was taken by 14-year-old Alexandra Trusova , and the bronze was won by 15-year-old Alena Kostornaya.

Junior women went over Olympic champion Alina Zagitova (fifth place) and silver medal winner OI-2018 Evgenia Medvedeva (seventh place). Both skaters fell during their performances.

Despite the result, neither Shcherbakov, nor Trusova, nor Kostornaya will be able to go to the adult European Championship 2019. According to the regulations, participants of the tournament must be 15 years old until July 1, 2018. None of the medalists of the Championship of Russia does not fit these requirements
