In a statement, Sanders did not report how many of the two thousand soldiers will return to their homeland and when this will happen. A White House spokesman said the United States will continue to oppose radical Islamist groups, “when necessary.”

An unnamed US official told Reuters that State Department employees were being evacuated from Syria within 24 hours. The withdrawal of the military will take from two to three months. As noted by the publication, even with the full withdrawal of troops from the region, the US will have 5,200 soldiers based in Iraq.

Shortly before application Sanders Donald Trump said on Twitter that the United States won the LIH in Syria. According to him, this was the only reason for the presence of the American army in the country in his presidency.
