Belarus is developing a system of access for people with disabilities to the news and information resources, which involves the use of multimedia players Webbox 3. BelTA informs this with reference to the deputy chairman of the Central Board of the Belarusian Association of the Visually Impaired (BelTIZ) Mikhail Antonenko.
The project is being created by the BelTIZ and the Center for the Successful Person, a rehabilitation facility for the visually impaired. Financial support is provided by the international forum SYD and the Swedish government.
Partners have already transferred 20 players; in total, 40-50 devices are expected to be delivered as part of the project. They are distributed both among Minskers and among residents of the regions. Also, to create an information network, you need to conclude contracts with the media in order to use their content.
Michael Antonenko noted that Webbox 3 is a simple device that is important for use by the blind: many find it difficult to master modern gadgets due to age and illness.
