Architecture: Penthouse of freight containers

On the roof of an old building in new york.

American studio Lot-Ek used brightly colored cargo containers for the construction of a penthouse on the roof of a Brooklyn house from the 1930s.

The old building was also restored and painted with diagonal black and gray stripes, but it was decided to preserve its original door and roof.

Studio Lot-Ek is known for a number of projects in which cargo containers were used. Of them were built as public places and private apartments. Containers are actively used in modern architecture not only in the USA – from them, for example, the Quadrum hotel in the mountains of Georgia is assembled. #
