After ten years of development and preparation of a supersonic car capable of accelerating to 1600 km / h, the project of the British company Bloodhound SSC is closed . The car-rocket could not find investors and was in the framework of the bankruptcy procedure.
In early 2017, it was reported about the completion of the assembly and testing of the chassis of the car. At trial runs with the help of a turbofan engine, a speed of 320 km / h was demonstrated with a total weight of 6.4 tons. Its length was 12.9 meters, width – 2.5 m, and height – 3 m.
A new speed record was supposed to put the pilot of the British Air Force Andy Green. He also owns the current speed record on the ground, established in 1997, – 1230 km / h.
