On December 7, comedian and actor Kevin Hart refused to hold an Academy Award “Oscar” in 2019. According to him , the reason – the accusations of homophobia, which followed his jokes on Twitter, left in 2009 and 2011.

The fact that Hart will be leading the event, it became known on December 5. In his apology to the audience and the Academy, the comedian noted that he hopes to work again on the Oscar in the future.

Hart’s statement followed a day after he spoke about the situation in his instagram. The comic said that “the world has gone mad,” but he will not allow the charges to “piss him off or disrupt what he has been walking to.”

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]My whole team says to me: “God, Kevin, the world is upset about the tweets made many years ago.” I am almost 40 years old. If you do not believe that people change, grow and develop, then I have nothing to say to you. If you want to make people make excuses for their past, then you do everything right.[/perfectpullquote]

Despite this, Hart still apologized for the old tweets – he explained that he did it under pressure from the Academy.

[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]I got a call from the Academy and said the following: “Kevin, apologize for your old tweets, or we will have to find another presenter.” I’m talking about tweets that I posted in 2009-2011. I decided to apologize.[/perfectpullquote]

“If my son comes home and starts playing with my daughter’s doll house, I will break the house over his head and say:“ Stop this gay! ”, – one of the tweets that caused claims to Hart. More examples were published by activists who drove the query “gay” into a comic tweet over the past years. He was also reminded of the 2011 speech: Hart said he was afraid that his son would grow up gay. The comedian explained these words with the fact that these were exclusively his phobias, and he would not like to love his children less because of his orientation.

The ceremony of the Oscars will be held February 24, 2019, the nominees will be called on January 22. The film academy has not yet given official comments and did not say who will replace Hart as the moderator. The previous two ceremonies were moderated by TV presenter Jimmy Kimmel.
