On December 5, Yandex presented its first smartphone, Yandex.Telephone. This is a smartphone based on Android, in which Yandex services are embedded: several applications are pre-installed on it (such as Yandex.Maps, Yandex.Music, Yandex.Browser, Yandex.Mail), initial settings (like Yandex.Translate, Yandex.Transport, Yandex.Drive, Yandex.Metro), and others are built at the system level — for example, Yandex.News and Yandex.Den ”, and at the bottom of the screen Alice is built in through the image.
“Alice” can be called using the voice command “Listen, Alice” (it can be turned off) from any screen, even if it is locked. However, if there is a lock on the smartphone (PIN, drawing or fingerprint) from the locked screen, it can be called only after passing the authorization. “Alice” interacts with all internal services, and also has its own informer: in the cloud next to the button there is information about the weather, traffic jams, and suggestions for new music.
To work “forever listening” voice assistant in “Yandeks.Telefon” there is a separate low-power processor, which is able to continuously process the stream of sound. If the smartphone detects something similar to the helper phrase activator, the information is transmitted to the main processor.
Yandex.Telephone has an NFC chip that is used to make contactless purchases like Android Pay, Apple Pay and Samsung Pay. Only the “Phone” uses the Yandex payment system, and during the initial configuration it is proposed to automatically issue a virtual Yandex.Money card for making purchases.
“Yandex” has built in the “Phone” a special DAC (digital-to-analog converter) Qualcomm Aqstic Audio Codec WCD9340, which, according to the creators, improves the sound quality. Together with two microphones with additional noise cancellation and a Qualcomm DSP module, they form a single software and hardware solution for processing sound tasks.
In “Yandex.Telephone” there are no gestures, no cutout for the front camera, no protection against immersion in water. Its screen and back cover are covered with Gorilla Glass (on the back side – 3D, from the front – 2.5D), and the frame is made of aviation aluminum.

- LCD screen with a diagonal of 5.65 inches with an IPS matrix, its resolution is 1080 × 2160 pixels
- The operating system based on Android 8.1 Oreo. There is no own Yandex application store in the Phone – it uses the Google Play Store;

At the initial configuration, Yandex.Telephone suggests automatically uploading photos and videos to Yandex.Disk, but this can be turned off. Without the ability to opt out at the configuration stage, the caller ID and anti-spam is connected — a function based on the Yandex.Manager, which itself determines who is calling the user — as well as auto-updating software.
Sales of Yandex.Telephone will begin on December 6 at a store in the Yandex office – in the same place where the company began selling the Yandex.Station column. The next day, from December 7, the smartphone can be ordered with free delivery on the Beru marketplace, as well as purchased at Beeline, M.Video and Eldorado stores.
The smartphone is sold only in one version – 5.65-inch screen, 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory, black.
