IPhone assembly may move from China to Vietnam

Foxconn is considering moving the production of Apple smartphones from China to factories in Vietnam. It is reported by Reuters, citing the Vietnamese media. Such a step will be a response to the actions taken by the Trump administration in the economic confrontation between the United States and China.

In addition to Vietnam, are considered in Foxconn as a country for locating factories and Thailand. However, in both cases, the main problems may be associated with a lack of skilled workers for such enterprises, as well as an unprepared infrastructure.

Recall that in late November, Donald Trump proposed  to introduce a tax on goods imported from China. In this case, under the “distribution” can get a lot of electronics – in particular, laptops and smartphones. According to preliminary estimates, iPhones assembled in China may add $ 60–160 in this case.
