1 child died and another 40 children, aged 8 to 13 years old, received injuries of varying severity.
A bus with a kids’ football team followed from Texas to Memphis. The driver told the Arkansas police that he had lost control of the bus at the ramp off the highway in Benton, Arkansas, after which the bus turned over several times. As a result of the accident, some children were clamped by metal inside the bus.
The causes of emergency are being investigated. Police questioned the driver of the vehicle.
All the injured were taken to hospitals in nearby Benton and Little Rock, police said. Among the victims were the coaches and accompanying persons of the team. Many children have head injuries, broken bones and lacerations of the legs.
