South Korean authorities are investigating a case of industrial espionage. Under suspicion are nine people – employees of Toptec Co Ltd. Presumably, the top manager of this company, as well as eight of its other employees, are implicated in the sale of a flexible display technology company, owned by Samsung, to a Chinese company.
The group is suspected of creating a dummy company that received technical documentation from Samsung Display, a subsidiary of Samsung. Then the information was sold to the Chinese side for 15.5 billion won (about $ 13.85 million), Reuters writes .
The company Toptec, which specializes in equipment for the automated production of screen panels for mobile devices, deny any involvement in the incident. They also declared their readiness to cooperate with the authorities and fully contribute to the search for truth. Shares of Toptec against the news collapsed by 20%.
The Samsung Display, in turn, intends to increase security to prevent leaks. It is noted that the development of technology took about six years and approximately $ 130 million.
