This information is available on the official Apple website. And, interestingly, the trade-in application itself can be arranged in two ways: personally, come to the Apple Store or use the exchange by mail.
We wanted to tell about how the second option works.
New iPhone without queuing
The exchange of the old iPhone for a new one takes place in a fully remote mode. Before you begin the exchange procedure on the Apple page, you must complete the questionnaire.
The following list of information about the device should be indicated:
- smartphone manufacturer
- specific model
- it turns on or not
- Do the buttons work and does the case look tolerable?
- screen status
After that, Apple will pre-evaluate the smartphone, offering the amount that will return under the trade-in program at the time of registration of the new smartphone.
So much Apple offers for the iPhone 8. The size of the memory does not affect anything.
Then the buyer indicates the serial number of the iPhone and is verified. It remains to specify the contact details and wait for the parcel.
What does the set for sending the old iPhone look like?
Under the exchange program, Apple sends the so-called Trade In KIt – a set with a box, films and instructions for self-packing an old iPhone.
Box of pressed cardboard, liners with all sorts of instructions, a separate box for the iPhone itself.
Funny moment: the original box, which you carefully kept in the hope of selling a smartphone more expensive, Apple cable and charger are not interested. It does not affect the final cost and do not need to send it.
The instruction set has all the necessary information on how to back up your old device and how to log out of your iCloud account in order to untie your iPhone.
The set for sending the old iPhone according to the trade-in program consists of:
- big box of pressed cardboard
- thin box for iphone
- foam envelope
- SIM card removal clips
- accompanying documentation on the proper preparation of the device
There is in the provided documentation and an important point that should be considered before sending the smartphone to Apple.
[perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]Apple warns that if your old iPhone has damage that is affecting AppleCare +, then the company will use it to repair the device, canceling it from you. [/perfectpullquote] [perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]If you have already used AppleCare + to service this device, and its condition is extremely poor, the smartphone is damaged, does not work or is sent with a broken display, Apple will wrap it back. [/perfectpullquote] [perfectpullquote align=”full” bordertop=”false” cite=”” link=”” color=”” class=”” size=””]Mail will return the sent box with the device to you, and you will have to pay for shipping in both directions.[/perfectpullquote]
Before sending, the smartphone should be reset to factory settings, remove the SIM card and turn off.
Carefully placing the box and envelope provided, the old device should be handed over to a mail representative. You will receive a track number and will be able to track the departure to the very door of Apple.
After checking your old iPhone, Apple will provide you with an Apple Gift Card with a corresponding discount on the purchase of a device.
Such a card can be used to redeem a part of the cost of a new iPhone right at the Apple Store.
The whole procedure takes from a week to three. In the Apple Store – no more than 10 minutes, but if the buyer does not have time to stand in line, the option of a trade-in by mail can be very helpful.
