Before that, the event was supported by some partners like Hewlett Packard, but Microsoft refused.
One of the oldest and largest annual IT conferences CeBIT has closed in German Hannover, organizer Deutsche Messe AG reported . The next exhibition was scheduled for June 2019, but it will not take place.
Deutsche Messe AG called the closure of CeBIT a reduction in interest from visitors and weak demand from partner companies for booths. The organizers acknowledged that the exhibition did not even revive the format change in 2018: the last CeBIT was accompanied by a number of conferences and concerts. If at the peak of its popularity over 800 thousand people visited, then in 2018, according to Deutsche Welle, it attracted only 120 thousand.
The first CeBIT was held in 1986. After changing the concept, part of the large customers of the German exhibition supported the organizers – among them Hewlett Packard, Vodafone and Salesforce. However, some refused to participate, for example, Microsoft did.
